The Continent of Europe is covering an area of 10.36 m square km and surrounded by :

  • The Arctic ocean from the north.
  • The Atlantic ocean which connected to the north sea and the Baltic from the west.
  • the Mediterranean and the Strait of Gibraltar and separated from Africa from the south.
  • Connected to the continent of Asia by the mountains and the Ural River in the east.
  • The Caspian Sea and the Caucasus in the southeast, the Black Sea and the Bosphorus, the Marmara, and the Dardanelles in the south.


The Biggest European Countries by Area :

  • Russia : Russia has two parts one of them locates in the European side with an area of 3.97 m square km so it's the biggest European country, the other side is in Asia so it's total area equals 17.098 m square km(The biggest country in the world).

  • Ukraine : Locates in the eastern side of Europe and overlooking the black sea with an area of 603628 square km so it's the 2nd biggest country in Europe.

  • France : Covers an area of 551394 square km in the western side of Europe but also France has a land outside the continent which makes its total area increased so it's 3rd biggest country in Europe.

  • Spain : it has a land in the Mediterranean and covers an area of 49868 square km so its 4th biggest country in Europe.

  • Sweden
    Located in the far north of Europe, it is covered by the Scandinavian mountain, with an area of ​​44964 square kilometers, the 5th largest European countries.

The Smallest European Countries by Area :

  • Monaco : Covers an area of 1.95 square km so it's the 2nd smallest country in Europe.

  • San Marino : Covers an area of 61 square km and has a population on 33.400
